Mr. Kelleher

About MeBennett Cardinal Mascot

My name is Mike Kelleher and I am super excited to be in my 7th year as

Principal at Bennett School.  We have a phenomenal group of educators, a

beautiful and creative group of young learners, and a community that goes

above and beyond all the time. I am married with three children.  My

hobbies include gardening, playing music with friends, exercising, and

reading. I like to be outside as much as I can. I also love family time.

We currently have a pretty good routine of having dinner together and

watching Jeopardy.

My Childhood

My mother and father are both from Ireland. They first came to New York, then Boston, and finally settled in Brockton, Massachusetts.  I was born in Dorchester and grew up in Brockton.  I tried and had fun with many sports, but football and track were my favorite.  I also had fun with music.  I was a lucky recipient of my older brother’s hand me down drums!  I taught myself how to play, and although I had a lot of fun, my parents always stressed that education had to come first.  I had a lot of great teachers growing up. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my sixth-grade teacher Mr. Medis, my 8th-grade math teacher Dr. Kelley, and my track coach Mr. Allen.  They are a few of the many who always provided me with encouragement and high expectations.

My Education and Career

I graduated from Stonehill College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a minor in Philosophy.

I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership from Fitchburg State.

After college, I worked in the travel industry, the financial industry, and as a musician.  Although I had fantastic experiences, I always wanted to be an educator and give back to the community where I grew up.  I moved home and began teaching for the Brockton School System.

During this time, I met my wife, and she was from Taunton.  I have been working for TPS ever since!
